Hey, Hockey Fans!  The library is very excited to have been chosen as one of six libraries in NH to get a visit from the Boston Bruins mascot Blades! 
Bruins staff will be visiting with Blades on Tuesday, August 8th at 1pm at the ECLC building next to t
he library.  Kids/Teens are invited to meet Blades and the Bruins staff and join in some fun activities.  
Photos will be taken with Blades by the Bruins photographer following the activities. You are also allowed to take photos or videos at the event. REGISTER through the online calendar of events or call the library at 664-9715.  

 Summer Reading Program 2017
“BUILD A BETTER WORLD”
​June 23rd – August 19th
Kids can register to take part in a fun-filled summer! Kids (going into 1st – 5th grade) and Preschool kids (ages 3-5) can earn incentive prizes or raffle chances, including a drawing for grand prizes at the end of the summer: A Maker/Building Basket for the Kids or a Preschool Summer Fun Gift Basket for the Preschoolers. Both groups will be entered to win a $50 Toys ‘R Us gift card! We also have a wide variety of workshops, activities and programs scheduled this summer. Once you register online, download your reading booklet or stop by the library to pick one up. Visit our online calendar to sign up for any of our Summer Reading activities after our kick off program on June 23. Once you are registered you can start logging on June 23rd!

Kids Summer Programs and Events
These events will be happening during our Summer Reading Program. Signups for all events will open on June 23 at our Summer Reading Kickoff! All crafts are at 1PM and are for ages 7-12.
KIDS CRAFTS/ACTIVITIES – Registration Required
June 28 - Build a Straw Bridge
Sign Up to make the biggest, strongest bridge you can out of straws! Your creation will be put to the test!
July 12 - Make a Bottle Bird Feeder
Build an outdoor feeder from recycled material!
July 26 - Cookie Construction
Sign Up to construct buildings out of cookies, marshmallows and frosting! Yum…a craft you can eat!
August 9 - Create Paper Bag Houses
All supplies are provided for kids to make different houses and buildings. We'll take a photo of our completed neighborhood, and kids will take home their creation.


Lunch and Movie at the Library
Enjoy a movie while sitting in our air-conditioned meeting room. Bring a lunch or snack and water (with screw on cap). Barrington residents & library card holders. All showings are at 1pm.

Aug 7 - LEGO Batman (PG)


LEGO Club Summer Schedule
LEGO Days will be June 27, July 25 and Aug 15 at 4PM. LEGO Club meets once a month during the summer & will be drop-in and open to all ages! Come on…we know older kids love to build too! And just think what parents and kids can build together! Come with a friend, family member or by yourself to enjoy build time. The weekly schedule will resume on Sept 5.
 
Music and Movement Story Time 1-3 year olds Tuesdays at 10:30AM
Children and their caregivers will enjoy movement & songs, stories, rhymes, and a variety of activities that help to develop early literacy skills. Registration starts June 23rd at our Summer Reading Kick-off. Runs from June 27th-August 15th
 
Drop-In Story Time for 4-7 Year Olds Thursdays at 11AM
Story Time is for 4-7 year olds to enjoy independently. We will share a couple stories and a related craft. Story Time is a fun program that promotes listening and communication skills, and is a great opportunity to socialize with other children of similar age. Children will benefit by listening to books, increasing their attention span, introducing them to critical thinking and following direction all while having fun! Runs June 29th- August 17th
 
Touch-A-Truck Story Time
July 27 @ 11AM

Join us for a special Touch-A-Truck Story Time and get a chance to see some of our town’s vehicles up close and personal. Kids are invited to join Ms Wendy on the lawn of the ECLC building next door. She will read stories first, and then lead children and families over to the parking lot for a tour of vehicles from Barrington’s Fire, Rescue, Police and Road Crew! Note: Staff and Vehicles will be present as long as there is not an emergency that would need their assistance.

Getting Your Library Card  Opens A Whole New World...
Children may get their very own library card at age six.  They will receive a bookmark about being a good library citizen and a great big WELCOME from our staff!
